In reply to Nun74. Person with 10 foot ceilings here and no, I do not have a garage or an attic or a basement or anything like that. I’m in a one bedroom apartment and it doesn’t even have closets. Not a single one. I would love something like this. And actually, having 10 foot ceilings, system like that would waste a lot of space for me. I’m only 5 foot four so for it to be low enough for me to reach, it couldn’t be much higher than 6 1/2 feet from the ground. That leaves an awful lot of space.

Very nice idea … IF you have very high 10-12 foot ceilings. And if you do have such ceilings you are already living in a very nice home with an attic & garage. Space savings for an apartment or common home? You will be hitting your head on this ceiling-lowering shelf.
May be better to frame this sideways and cut hallway in half… and stick extra items to one side.
