Rail projects take many years to complete and require huge budgets. Bus systems are flexible but often slow, crowded, and limited in capacity. Glydways introduces a new way to think about mass transit by combining the capacity of rail with the affordability of buses.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Glydways has developed a high-capacity Automated Transit Network that uses small autonomous electric vehicles running on a very narrow dedicated guideway. This guideway is just 2 meters wide, which is far smaller than traditional rail or road infrastructure. Because of this compact design, cities can build the system without major land acquisition, heavy construction, or long project timelines.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The passenger experience is simple and modern. A rider requests a trip using a mobile app. A vehicle arrives automatically and takes the passenger directly from point A to point B. There are no fixed stops, no waiting for scheduled departures, and no driver. The vehicle can be used privately or shared with a small group traveling together. This creates a personal and direct travel experience that is very different from buses and trains.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Managed by AI With GlydwaysOS</h3>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The entire network is managed by an AI system called GlydwaysOS. This system controls how vehicles move on the guideway, prevents congestion, and ensures smooth traffic flow. Because the vehicles are autonomous and centrally coordinated, the system works like a digital network rather than a traditional transport line. It operates continuously, twenty-four hours a day, without the need for drivers.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Rail-Like Capacity Without Rail Costs</h3>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Glydways says that when the system is scaled, it has the potential to move up to 10,000 people per hour. This level of capacity is similar to rail systems, but without the massive infrastructure costs. There are no heavy tracks, large stations, overhead lines, or expensive signaling systems. <p class="wp-block-paragraph">Rhode Island-based startup Regent Craft has reached a significant breakthrough in high-speed maritime travel. On March 6, 2025, the company successfully completed the first water test with passengers on board its full-scale, crewed electric seaglider, the Viceroy prototype.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Innovative Three-Mode Operation</h2>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Viceroy seaglider is a revolutionary high-speed vessel designed to operate exclusively over water. Measuring 55 feet in length with a 65-foot wingspan, it can carry 12 passengers and two crew members or transport up to 3,500 pounds of cargo. The seaglider operates in three distinct modes. When stationary or moving at low speeds, it floats on its hull like a traditional boat.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">As it gains speed, it transitions to foiling mode, where it lifts above the water on hydrofoils, reducing drag and improving efficiency. Finally, at high speeds, it enters flying mode, using the ground effect to glide just above the water’s surface, allowing for smooth, energy-efficient travel.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Speed, Range, and Applications</h2>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Designed for efficiency and speed, the Viceroy seaglider can cruise at 180 mph and cover distances of at least 180 miles. This makes it a cost-effective and convenient option for a variety of applications, including passenger travel, cargo transport, and emergency response. With its zero-emission electric powertrain, the Viceroy seaglider aims to provide an eco-friendly alternative to traditional boats and aircraft.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Successful Water Trials and the Future</h2>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The successful passenger test took place in Narragansett Bay, Rhode Island, marking a critical step toward human-piloted flight tests later this year. As Regent Craft continues development, the Viceroy seaglider could transform coastal transportation, offering faster, more efficient, and sustainable travel over water.</p>
