Installing a drainage ditch traditionally involves heavy concrete work and time-consuming construction. The snap-together drainage ditch system offers a different approach. Instead of pouring concrete, workers place modular U-shaped channels into position one piece at a time.

Each section connects to the next, allowing a full drainage line to form quickly. The design focuses on simplicity and speed, turning what was once a complex process into a straightforward assembly method.

Modular Channels That Connect Piece by Piece

Also, the system uses a U-shaped resin gutter combined with a trench grate to form a complete drainage channel. The modular structure allows installers to extend the channel length gradually, building the drainage ditch piece by piece.

Lightweight Materials for Easier Handling

The drainage channels are manufactured from polymer concrete or resin-based composite materials. These materials weigh less than traditional concrete channels, which makes transportation and installation easie

Materials Resistant to Harsh Conditions

Moreover, resin-based composites offer resistance to environmental exposure. The materials resist acid, alkali, and salt, which commonly affect outdoor drainage systems. This resistance helps the channels perform in locations where runoff may contain chemicals or where road salt and industrial residues are present.

Adaptable for Different Locations

Above all, the modular channel system can support different types of trench covers depending on where it is installed. Suitable for pedestrian pathways, commercial plazas, parking areas, or industrial environments.
Each cover type provides the appropriate strength and surface design for the surrounding environment.

Multiple Sizes and Load Capacities

Moreover, the snap-together drainage channels are available in several width sizes and loading capacities. Also, this allows engineers and installers to choose the correct configuration based on expected water flow and traffic load.

Developed by Xinghua Casting

Finally, Xinghua Casting, a China-based manufacturer specializing in manhole covers, drainage systems, and casting components, created this modular drainage system. The company focuses on infrastructure products designed for urban and industrial environments.

NiTO wooden bricks offer a modular way to build walls without using nails or glue. The system works with solid wooden blocks that simply click and stack together. This system lets builders assemble walls quickly using a straightforward, puzzle-like construction method.

Solid Wood Without Additives

NiTO bricks are made from pure solid wood. The material contains no additives or adhesives, which means the blocks remain fully recyclable. Using natural wood also helps maintain a clean material structure throughout the building system.

Tongue-and-Groove Interlocking System

However, each block includes a 5-centimeter tongue-and-groove connection. This design allows the bricks to interlock in multiple directions, creating a stable wall structure as the blocks stack on top of each other.

Solid wood blocks stack together to create walls without nails or adhesives.

Block Sizes and Wall Dimensions

Also, NiTO offers two block sizes to support different building needs. The standard solid block measures 40 × 40 × 15 centimeters, while the half block measures 20 × 40 × 15 centimeters. These sizes allow builders to adjust layouts and complete wall sections more easily. When assembled, the finished walls typically have a total thickness between 32 and 38 centimeters.

Thermal Performance

Moreover, the wall system provides insulation values suitable for residential construction. Depending on the configuration, the walls can achieve U-values from 0.14 to 0.18 W/(m²K). The lower value corresponds to passive house-level insulation performance.

Natural Indoor Environment

Wood naturally interacts with indoor air. The material helps regulate humidity levels, absorbs certain pollutants, and contributes to a comfortable indoor atmosphere. Because the structure uses solid wood blocks without chemical additives, the wall system keeps the natural properties of the material.

Suitable for Different Types of Buildings

NiTO wooden bricks can be used for a range of projects. Also, the modular system makes it possible to build houses, garages, garden sheds, and other small structures.

They said, the system has received DIBt approval in Germany for buildings up to two floors plus an attic.
This certification allows builders to use the modular wooden bricks in residential structures within those limits.

Rear backup cameras improve visibility while reversing, but snow, salt, mud, and road grime can quickly block the lens. Lens Lizard is a universal aftermarket backup camera cleaner that solves this problem. It offers a simple way to clear your camera without installing a full washer system.

You can install Lens Lizard on almost any vehicle with a reverse backup camera mounted above the license plate, including pickup trucks.

Inspired by Luxury Car Features

Some luxury vehicles from brands such as Volkswagen, Audi, Tesla, and Volvo include built-in backup camera washers. Lens Lizard brings a similar concept as an aftermarket solution that works with existing vehicles.

Wireless remote used inside the vehicle.

How It Works

The device mounts behind the license plate and uses a high-pressure fluid jet aimed directly at the backup camera. When the camera becomes blocked, the driver presses a wireless remote button from inside the vehicle.

Lens Lizard mounted behind a vehicle license plate.

The system sprays cleaning fluid onto the camera lens, clearing away snow, salt, mud, and grime in seconds.

Simple Five-Minute Installation

Lens Lizard is designed for quick installation using only a screwdriver. To install, you must remove your existing license plate, place the Lens Lizard unit on the existing screw holes, and then reinstall the license plate on top of the device.

After mounting, you need to adjust the nozzle to ensure it points directly at the backup camera. No complex wiring or permanent modifications are required.

Battery and Fluid System

The unit includes a removable battery and a fluid reservoir. Both components last for more than four months under normal use. You can recharge the battery and refill the fluid without removing the device from the vehicle.

The Story Behind the Invention

Lens Lizard was invented by Michael Klein after trying to solve his own issue with a dirty backup camera. His early prototype involved strapping a small windshield-washer system to his license plate, powered by a remote control and battery pack. That experiment eventually led to the development of the Lens Lizard product.

The planned retail price for Lens Lizard is $149. During its Kickstarter campaign, early bird pricing starts at $99.

The Elecy is a 4-wheeled eBike, also described as an electric-assist quadcycle, developed as a compact alternative to traditional cars. It combines elements of a bicycle and a small vehicle, aiming to offer the comfort of a car while maintaining emissions similar to a bike.

Built for Cycle Lane Use

One of the key aspects of the Elecy is its compatibility with cycle lane use. Despite having four wheels and an enclosed cabin, it operates as an electric-assist vehicle rather than a conventional car.

The top electric-assist speed is 25 km/h, or 16 mph. Riders can pedal whenever they choose, and a direct mechanical connection between the pedals and the rear wheel allows continued movement even if the battery runs low.

Elecy 4-Wheeled eBike Offers 80km Range and 300L Storage

Electric-Assist Performance and Charging

The Elecy offers a range of over 80 kilometers on electric assist. The removable battery can be taken out and charged using standard mains power. A full charge takes approximately three hours.

Because the battery is removable, users can charge it indoors or at any standard electrical outlet, without needing specialized charging infrastructure.

Compact Dimensions with Storage Space

The quadcycle measures approximately 2.5 meters in length, 0.8 meters in width, and 1.3 meters in height. Its narrow width supports cycle lane compatibility while maintaining a stable four-wheel platform.

Despite its compact size, the Elecy provides 300 liters of storage space. This capacity makes it suitable for carrying groceries, bags, or daily essentials. The overall vehicle weight is about 45 kilograms, contributing to efficiency and ease of handling.

Car-Like Comfort in a Lightweight Vehicle

The Elecy features a weatherproof cabin with lockable doors and a canopy for protection from rain and wind. Inside, it offers car-style seating arranged in line for one adult and one child.

Additional features include integrated GPS for navigation and tracking. The enclosed design aims to provide comfort similar to a small car while retaining the efficiency and emissions profile of a bicycle.

Simple Maintenance and Practical Design

Maintenance remains straightforward, as the Elecy uses standard bicycle components. This allows for easier servicing compared to traditional motor vehicles.

A Compact Urban Transport Option

The Elecy presents itself as a potential car replacement for short urban journeys. With electric assist, removable battery charging, cycle lane compatibility, and enclosed seating for two passengers, it combines features of both bicycles and compact vehicles.

Those interested can register their interest through the company’s official website to follow updates on availability and future developments.

Irid is a technology developed by an Italian optics research firm focused on improving how photochromic lenses respond to light. The system is designed to automatically adjust tint levels based on brightness conditions, without using any batteries.

The technology is currently applied to helmet visors and can also be used in goggles, sunglasses, personal protective equipment, automotive applications, and equipment for armed forces. The visor can adapt its tint to light in approximately 0.09 seconds, allowing for a near-instant adjustment between lighting conditions.

Moving Beyond Traditional Photochromic Lenses

Conventional chemical-based photochromic visors react to ultraviolet rays. These systems often take close to a minute to transition from clear to dark and can activate even in cloudy conditions.

Irid helmet visors use liquid crystal technology to adjust tint automatically.

Irid approaches the process differently. Instead of relying on chemical reactions triggered by UV exposure, it uses liquid crystal technology combined with a solar-powered system. The result is a visor that adjusts its tint in less than one second.

Irid technology can be used for helmets, goggles, sunglasses, PPE, and automotive applications.

How the Irid System Works

The helmet visor built with Irid’s light-sensitive photochromic system includes several components. It uses a liquid crystal film, a solar panel mounted at the top of the visor, a high-precision base lens, and an advanced mirror coating.

When light hits the small solar panel, it generates power instantly. This energy activates the liquid crystal film embedded in the visor, allowing it to change tint automatically. Because light powers the system directly, it does not require a battery.

Instant Tint Adjustment

Irid’s visor technology can adjust between the S1 and S3 filter range. It starts from a clear state with approximately 70 percent visible light transmission (VLT). As brightness increases, the tint deepens automatically.

Moreover, the transition happens in less than one second, allowing riders to move between different lighting conditions without manually changing visors or waiting for a slow chemical reaction.

Designed for Multiple Applications

Although Irid currently highlights the technology in motorcycle helmet visors, the company designed the system for broader use. Manufacturers can integrate it into goggles, sunglasses, personal protective equipment, automotive glazing systems, and military applications.

Built for Real-World Riding

Irid visors come in three tint shades: blue, clear, and smoke. In addition to automatic tint adjustment, the visor includes a special anti-fog treatment to improve visibility in varying weather conditions. It is also completely waterproof, making it suitable for everyday motorcycle use.

However, the Irid visor starts at approximately 320€, around $496. A helmet equipped with the Irid visor system starts at 999€, around $1181.

Designer Wini Camacho presents the Topolino XS as a modern reinterpretation of the original Fiat “Topolino,” also known as the Fiat 500 from the 1950s. The project takes inspiration from the small, practical city car of that era and rethinks it for today’s urban mobility needs. The result is a compact electric micro-car that keeps the spirit of the classic while introducing a simplified and contemporary design language.

Compact Size for Urban Streets

The latest iteration of the Topolino XS measures approximately 2.4 meters in length and 1.4 meters in width. These compact proportions make it suitable for tight city streets and limited parking spaces. Its small footprint reflects a clear focus on short urban trips rather than long-distance travel.

Designed Digitally from Start to Finish

The development of the Topolino XS is handled entirely through digital tools. From the initial sketch to the final 3D model, the entire process is completed digitally. This approach allows the designer to refine the form and details while maintaining a clean and controlled design.

Compact proportions measuring 2.4 meters by 1.4 meters

Extreme Minimalism in Form

The Topolino XS follows an extreme minimalistic and simplistic design philosophy. Its body features a unified spherical form that gives the car a smooth and cohesive appearance. The headlights are shaped to resemble a pair of eyes, adding character without adding complexity. Every element is reduced to the essentials to keep the overall look simple and functional.

Convertible and Modular Structure

The car is designed with flexibility in mind. The driver can remove the roof, windshield, and windows, allowing the vehicle to convert into a roofless mini car. This removable structure changes the driving experience while maintaining the same compact platform.

Small Battery for Everyday Charging

The Topolino XS uses a small battery pack that can be recharged at home. This setup supports everyday city use and keeps the system simple. The focus remains on short, local trips and convenient charging rather than large battery capacity.

Two Versions Available

The concept includes two versions. The basic model is called the PURO, while the higher-performance version is named the ABARTH. Both versions share the same core design and can be converted into a coupe.

Added Practicality

To improve usability, the Topolino XS offers optional accessories such as an all-weather trolley luggage and a rack for extra cargo space. These additions provide extra storage while maintaining the vehicle’s compact size.

A Concept Study

The Fiat Topolino XS is still a concept. Through its compact dimensions, minimalist design, and electric powertrain, it explores a simple approach to urban transportation inspired by the original Topolino while adapting it for modern city life.

The Zigy is a single-seater electric micro-car designed by Andrea Mocellin in collaboration with DEXET Technologies. Developed as a concept study, it explores how much smaller and more focused a city vehicle can be when it is designed for just one person.

Inspired by London’s Crowded Streets

The idea behind the Zigy came from everyday scenes on London’s narrow roads. Where large SUVs often move through tight streets carrying only a single passenger. This contrast between vehicle size and actual usage became the starting point for a more compact and practical urban vehicle.

Shaped by Aerodynamics and Visibility

Moreover, the design of the Zigy places strong emphasis on aerodynamic efficiency and lightweight construction. Making it well suited for congested city streets. Its shape is guided by aerodynamics, visual balance, passenger visibility, and a range of other design considerations that influence how the vehicle looks and functions in real traffic conditions.

Compact proportions designed for narrow urban streets

Thoughtful Use of Materials

At the core of the Zigy is a chassis developed using thermoplastic composites. As a result, compared to thermoset materials, thermoplastics allow better reusability and recyclability, supporting a more considered approach to vehicle construction.

However, the exterior and interior body panels continue this material strategy. They are made from recycled carbon fibres and natural fibres. Combining strength with a reduced material footprint while helping keep the overall structure lightweight.

Part of a Broader Mobility Approach

Above all, The Zigy is not the only project to come from the collaboration between Andrea Mocellin and DEXET Technologies. Their work on the Revolve wheelchair reflects a similar focus on compact, efficient, and purpose-driven mobility solutions designed for everyday use.

SOLIS by WorkSport is a foldable solar tray cover designed specifically for pickup trucks, turning the truck bed into a power-generating surface. At first glance, it looks like a premium hard folding tonneau cover, but underneath, it functions as a custom-fit solar array that allows your truck to produce electricity wherever it goes.

Not Just a Bed Cover

Unlike traditional tonneau covers that only protect cargo, SOLIS actively generates power. The integrated solar system can produce up to 600 watts of energy, making it useful for charging tools, camping gear, or portable power stations. It protects your cargo from weather and theft while simultaneously working as an off-grid energy source.

High-Efficiency Solar Design

Solis uses high-efficiency, copper-reinforced solar panels built into rugged aluminum frames. These panels are housed in a weather-sealed structure designed to handle real-world truck use, including rain, dust, and vibration. The solar panels fold along with the cover, so normal bed access remains easy and familiar.

Copper-reinforced solar panels integrated into the Solis cover

Simple Power Connectivity

The system uses standard MC4 connectors, allowing easy connection to existing portable power stations. SOLIS also integrates directly with the WorkSport COR Portable Power System, which offers a 1 kWh LFP modular battery, 2000W pure sine wave output, and multiple USB power options for everyday devices. This setup lets users store and use solar energy without complex electrical work.

Easy Installation, No Wiring Required

Installation is straightforward and does not require permanent vehicle modifications. SOLIS installs using clamps and brackets, similar to conventional hard folding bed covers. All mounting hardware and instructions are included, and no internal wiring is needed, making it accessible for most truck owners. Depending on bed size, SOLIS weighs between 65 and 85 pounds.

Pricing and Availability

However, the SOLIS by WorkSport starts at $1,999, positioning it as a premium accessory that combines cargo protection with renewable energy generation. For truck owners looking to reduce reliance on external power sources, SOLIS offers a practical way to turn a vehicle into a mobile power solution.

Pliyt is a California-based startup developing a new concept in self-driving mobility that focuses on privacy, comfort, and personal control. Instead of treating autonomous vehicles as shared open cabins, Pliyt rethinks the interior as a set of private spaces. The goal is to offer fully autonomous rides that still feel personal, even when the vehicle is shared with other passengers.

One Vehicle, Four Private Pods

The Pliyt vehicle is designed with four independent interior pods. Each pod functions as a self-contained personal space. Passengers can travel alone, work, relax, or enjoy entertainment without interacting with others in the vehicle.

Privacy by Design

Each pod includes one-way smart glass that riders can enable or disable between adjacent pods to control visibility at any time. This design supports true ride anonymity, making shared autonomous travel feel closer to a private car service rather than a traditional rideshare.

Private pod featuring a zero-gravity seat and personal lighting.

A large 23-inch main display supports screen casting, gaming, and media playback, while a secondary display provides additional controls and information. Personal lighting and independent climate control ensure that each rider can adjust their environment without affecting others.

Storage, Safety, and Support

Each pod includes dedicated storage space for personal items. Moreover, safety features include SOS access and continuous monitoring backed by 24/7 customer support. These systems provide reassurance and assistance at any time during the journey.

Looking Ahead to 2028

Pliyt plans to launch its first pilot deployment in 2028. By combining autonomous driving with private pod design, the company aims to redefine how people experience shared mobility. The concept targets urban users who want the efficiency of ridesharing without sacrificing comfort, privacy, or personal space.
