The Wood-e Solar Cart is a remarkable prototype from Austria’s Cart Brothers, combining sustainable materials and solar energy to create a modular, emission-free electric vehicle.

Powered Completely by the Sun

Unlike conventional electric vehicles that rely on charging stations, the Wood-e runs entirely on solar energy. Its integrated solar roof allows it to cover up to 40 km per day, depending on weather conditions and usage. The system is designed for energy independence, making it ideal for rural or mobile off-grid needs.

Built from Local Wood

Sustainability is at the core of the Wood-e. Most of its structure is made from local spruce wood, highlighting the potential of renewable materials in modern transportation. Its wooden frame isn’t just eco-friendly, it’s also repairable and part of a circular design philosophy that encourages longevity and easy maintenance.

A Mobile Power Station on Wheels

The Wood-e doesn’t just get you from place to place. It also acts as a mobile energy hub, supplying 230-volt electricity to power tools, appliances, or electronics directly from its solar array. This makes it particularly useful for small businesses, mobile vendors, or people living off-grid.

Modular, Road-Safe, and Emission-Free

Cart Brothers designed the Wood-e to be fully modular and road-safe, ensuring flexibility in how it’s used and transported. Its lightweight construction and zero emissions make it a practical and sustainable choice for short-range daily travel.

A street-legal version called the Wood-e 4 is in the works and expected to launch later this year. With seating for four, it expands the Wood-e’s use case for families, small businesses, or community transport, all while staying true to its wooden roots and clean-energy mission.
