A new era of construction is emerging with Charlotte, a spider-like robot developed by Crest Robotics and Earthbuilt Technology. This fully autonomous machine promises to build a 200 m² home per day. Without cement, firing, or manual labor.

A Smarter, Faster, and Greener Way to Build

Traditional construction is slow, costly, and heavily carbon-intensive. Charlotte changes that. By using locally available materials and eliminating the need for cement or bricks, it delivers low-cost and low-carbon housing at remarkable speed.

Designed for Earth and Beyond

Charlotte was designed not only for Earth but also with lunar exploration in mind. Conventional construction methods can’t work on the Moon, where water and heavy materials are scarce. Charlotte’s lightweight and foldable design makes it compact enough for space travel, offering a practical solution for future Moon bases and extraterrestrial habitats.

The Earthbuilt Extrusion System

At the core of this innovation is Earthbuilt’s extrusion system, attached beneath the robot. It collects and compresses materials such as sand, soil, and crushed brick waste, binding them in fabric to form structural layers. The result is a durable wall, strong, stable, and made without cement.

The Future of Construction and 3D Printing

3D printing is reshaping the way buildings are made, and Earthbuilt is redefining 3D printing itself. By removing complex supply chains and reducing the need for multiple trades, Earthbuilt technology cuts costs and time.

Sustainable Homes at Scale

With Charlotte’s technology, building affordable, sustainable homes becomes possible at both speed and scale. On Earth, this could mean low-cost housing for communities in need. In space, it paves the way for self-sufficient habitats built directly from local soil.
