In Pensacola, Florida, a newly constructed monolithic dome home demonstrates how innovative technology can transform the housing industry. This structure inflates in under ten minutes, showcasing a fast and efficient way to build durable and energy-efficient homes.

Two Domes, One Functional Layout

A 47-foot-diameter main dome for living space and a 35-foot-diameter garage dome. The two structures are linked via a tunnel, creating a seamless and practical design. Together, the home offers 1,700 square feet of living space and a 960-square-foot garage, providing ample room for modern living needs.

Inflating the Dome in Just Eight Minutes

The monolithic dome is brought to life using the SC3 inflator fan, which completes the inflation process in an impressive eight minutes. Louvers installed within the structure automatically seal off air leaks when the fan is turned off, ensuring the dome remains secure and stable during construction.

The connected domes provide 1,700 sq. ft. of living space and a 960 sq. ft. garage.

Building the Dome: A Step-by-Step Process

Once inflated, the dome begins to take shape through a meticulous building process. First, window and door frames are installed. The floor is then covered with plastic before a layer of polyurethane foam is sprayed onto the surface. This foam forms a strong and insulating base that prepares the structure for its final stages of framing and additional construction.

Energy-Efficient and Weather-Resilient Design

Monolithic dome homes are not only quick to construct but also exceptionally durable and energy-efficient. The thick layers of foam and concrete provide superior insulation, reducing energy costs and maintaining comfortable indoor temperatures. These homes are also built to withstand severe weather, including hurricanes, making them an ideal choice for areas prone to extreme conditions.

The Future of Housing with Monolithic Domes

It stands as a testament to the potential of monolithic dome construction. By combining speed, sustainability, and resilience, this innovative building method offers a glimpse into the future of housing. With homes that can inflate in minutes and stand strong against natureโ€™s toughest challenges, monolithic domes could revolutionize residential living.
