The CY-X4 by Rictor is a personal electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft designed specifically for low-altitude mobility. Instead of chasing long-range urban air taxi use cases, CY-X4 focuses on short, controlled flights with an emphasis on stability, redundancy, and pilot safety. Its compact multirotor flight pod design makes it suitable for controlled environments where simplicity and reliability matter most.

CY-X4 uses a four-axis, eight-propeller configuration, giving it strong redundancy in case of a single motor or propeller issue. Each axis uses a high-thrust coaxial propulsion system that delivers around 55 to 60 kilograms of rated thrust per axis. The large 63-inch propellers fold for easier storage and transport, helping keep the overall system practical despite its aircraft-grade performance.

Performance tuned for short flights

The aircraft reaches a top speed of about 80 kilometers per hour and offers a maximum flight time of roughly 20 minutes. It supports a payload of up to 100 kilograms, placing it firmly in the single-occupant personal flight category. CY-X4 is built to operate in a wide range of environments, with an operating temperature range from โ€“20ยฐC to 65ยฐC and an IPX5 protection rating for resistance to water exposure.

Intelligent flight control at the core

At the heart of the CY-X4 is an intelligent flight control system that acts as the aircraftโ€™s central brain. It continuously manages attitude, propulsion, and critical flight states to maintain stability and responsiveness. The system relies on an internal measurement unit that combines gyroscopes and accelerometers, reducing sensor noise and vibration directly at the source. This allows smoother control inputs and more accurate real-time adjustments during flight.

Safety systems designed for peace of mind

The aircraft includes multiple redundant systems, along with an integrated emergency parachute designed to protect the entire aircraft in the event of a critical failure. One-touch return and safe-landing commands provide automated responses during emergencies.

A focused vision for personal flight

Rather than trying to replace conventional transportation, the CY-X4 positions itself as a specialized personal eVTOL for controlled, low-altitude use. With its multirotor redundancy, intelligent flight management, and built-in safety systems, Rictorโ€™s CY-X4 highlights a practical approach to individual electric flight where reliability takes priority over range or speed.
