The future of solar power is changing with Power Roll Solar Film, a lightweight and flexible solar panel that can stick almost anywhere to generate energy. Developed in collaboration with researchers at the University of Sheffield, this new solar film is cost-effective, scalable, and sustainable. Unlike traditional solar panels, it does not rely on rare earth metals, making it an eco-friendly solution for clean energy.

How Does It Work?

Power Roll Solar Film uses a unique micro-groove pattern embossed into a plastic material, similar to how the holograms on credit cards are made. Each square meter of the film contains up to 500,000 microstructures that help capture sunlight efficiently. The grooves, which are only 1.5 micrometers deep, allow the film to be produced at a low cost using roll-to-roll processing techniques. This means the solar film can be mass-produced quickly and affordably.

Why Is It Better Than Traditional Solar Panels?

One major advantage of Power Roll Solar Film is that it does not use rare earth metals like indium, which are expensive and hard to find. Instead, it is made with readily available materials, making it more sustainable and accessible for large-scale energy production.

Where Can It Be Used?

Because it is lightweight and flexible, this solar film can be applied to rooftops, walls, vehicles, and even off-grid locations where traditional solar panels may not be suitable. It has the potential to replace diesel generators in remote areas, providing a cleaner and more sustainable energy source.

A Game-Changer for Renewable Energy

Power Roll Solar Film is set to revolutionize the solar industry by offering a more affordable and flexible alternative to traditional solar panels. With its scalable design and sustainable materials, this innovation makes solar power more accessible to people and businesses worldwide. As the demand for renewable energy grows, technologies like this will play a key role in reducing our dependence on fossil fuels.

Would you consider using flexible solar film on your home or business?
